It is made of all the most desirable parts of earth's creatures: the snake's neck, the crane's forehead, the dragon's stripes, the fish's tail, the tortoise's shell, the swallow's throat, and the fowl's bill.

The legendary phoenix was a symbol of high virtue and grace to the Chinese. This bird is the Chinese emperor's protector. The gracefully curved shape of this pen, reminiscent of a quill, compliments the maki-e lacquer painting technique, which here depicts the legendary phoenix, a symbol of virtue and grace. 5 5/8 (14.5 cm).

Medium 18 k rhodium-plated gold nib. Includes lacquered wooden box and all original packaging and papers. Pen has never been inked. Urushi lacquer is the sap extracted from the Urushi tree, a deciduous tree of the Sumac family.

This special tree grows only in South East Asia, China, Korea and Japan. The strong adhesive properties of wet lacquer facilitate the decoration of the surface. Maki-e is a special tecnique of sprinkling powder on Urushi lacquer, which was developed only in Japan and handed down through generations from the Nara period (7th century) until today. The artist's name and the pen's serial number are marked on each individual piece using the Maki-E technique.

In Chinese mythology, the Phoenix is one of the four Gods and namely it is a bird symbolizing the union of yin and yang. It is said that once the Phoenix sings on the Paulownia tree, a wise king will be born.

So the combination of Phoenix and Paulownia is an eternal motif of style and pride. The theme appears repeatedly in wall paintings and pictures created over the ages. We use only high quality materials such as double wall cardboard boxes, extra large buble wrap, polypropylene packaging tape, pvc pipe with high resistance.
